7-12-2008-animals of Hayden Valley

Our drive Saturday took us to Hayden Valley.....elk were taking a swim in the lake
My neighbor said this was a blue herron....beats me, but he was pretty

Love the reflection of the bison....

7-11-2008-Bear & his kill

THIS IS NATURE.....I had been told this bear had killed an ailing bull elk and where it was.....Friday morning we took a ride to Phantom Lake where this is what we saw....Phantom Lake for the first time we can remember has water in it....it usually looks like a little meadow but because of the snow I have mentioned it has water in it....this is a cinnamon bear (black) and it was apparent that he was resting after a feast....
We drove about ten more miles and turned around and when we got back he had apparently eaten again and was lying flat on his back sleeping.....one of our co-workers was told by a visitor they were on a bus tour and actually saw the elk attacked by the bear as it was bent over getting a drink of water in the lake.....the pictures aren't great as it was so bright and shadows from the trees.....

7-6-2008-Lamar Valley & Rosie

Lamar Valley never disappoints us.....we very seldom never see wildlife and the landscape is breathtaking
The ravens in Yellowstone are huge and have been know to steal food at picnics.....you can tell this is a crust of bread....

Rosie and her surviving cub were spotted around Tower.....the crowd was huge and it prevented me from getting a good picture of Rosie....did get this one of the cinnamon cub crossing the road.....Rosie isn't limping, but you could see the scars on her back when she was attacked and her other cub killed....

7-5-2008-baby elk

This baby laid for the longest time.....he barely moved as mom probably told it not to.....he would peek ever so often and then cry for mom.....they won't move until she tells them they can....
These twins were napping while mom hovered over them......soon they will lose their spots......

7-5-2008--Moose

This moose was standing in Floating Island Lake....look at his reflection.....an awesome animal.....

This moose crossed the road in front of us and Ken had to apply the brakes or we would have hit him....

Our friends Ken and Cheryl Syndergaard were married 44 years ago in this little church at Moose, Wyoming in The Teton's.....t
This is the view out the window in the back of the church.....so peaceful and you realize how great our God is.....

This is the outside of the church and it is fully operational with Sunday Services, funerals and wedding.....
